Information on the Use of ZO Skin Health Products
FOR BEST RESULTS: Your ZO protocol must be used regularly to achieve maximum results as per the guidance. It takes 2-6 weeks for transformation to begin and up to 6 months of daily use for maximum results. For optimal results, we emphasise the importance of using the ZO regimen exclusively. Mixing other products can dilute the effectiveness and impact of this powerful skincare system.

ANTICIPATED REACTIONS
When first using ZO® Skin Health products, you may experience skin purging (breakouts or cysts) due to increased cellular turnover. You may also experience initial, short-lived skin reactions. These indicate good skin repair and are temporary, typically lasting 4-8 weeks. Anticipated reactions can include: redness/pinkness, dryness, peeling, tightness, irritation, itching and burning.
Products that may cause this include:
- Retinol Skin Brightener 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%
- Wrinkle + Texture Repair
- Radical Night Repair
- Exfoliation Accelerator
- ReFissa®
- Pigment Control + Brightening Crème
- Acne Control
RETINOL ADVICE
When using retinol, apply to face and any excess to neck. Avoid the eye area. Retinol usage can cause initial, short-lived skin reactions including:
redness/pinkness, dryness, peeling, tightness, irritation, itching and burning. Therefore, it is important to gradually build your skin’s tolerance to it. We recommend starting with a lower concentration and limiting usage to your PM routine only, 1-2x per week. As your skin adjusts, you may increase frequency 2-3x per week and then to every other day. Once your skin’s tolerance has reached an optimal level for you, you may choose to step up the potency of your retinol treatment. Over time, your skin will become accustomed to retinol, revealing a smoother, more even-toned and youthful-looking complexion. If you experience moderate signs of sensitivity, we recommend pairing your retinol face cream or serum with one of ZO’s functional hydrators: Renewal Creme, Recovery Creme, Hydrating Crème.
PRODUCT SIZING and Top-up
Full-sized products approximately last 4-6 months. Travel-sized products are usually included in ZO® Skin Health Kits and approximately last 4-6 weeks.
Complexion Renewal Pads contain 60 pads and will last 30 days (when used twice a day), therefore will need replenishing every month.
HYDRATION + CALMING
Renewal Crème, Recovery Crème or Hydrating Crème can be added to any program to restore hydration, soothe irritated skin and reduce the severity
of anticipated reactions without affecting treatment results.
SUN PROTECTION
Due to their highly active ingredients, ZO® Skin Health products can increase photosensitivity due to their highly active ingredients. Therefore, it is
important to protect your skin from sun and light damage by applying a daily sunscreen SPF 30 or above.
ZO EYE CARE
ZO® Eye Care products should be added to all programs to specifically target the special needs of the eye area. They are formulated to strengthen the
delicate eye area and to address conditions, such as crow’s feet, hollowness, dark circles and puffiness. Eye products include: Intense Eye Crème, Eye Brightening Crème and Growth Factor Eye Serum.

Accutane or prescription retinoid products
Accutane or prescription retinoid products are used to treat severe acne. They work by reducing oil production from sebaceous glands of the skin which can lead to your skin feeling drier and more sensitive. ZO Skin Health products contain highly active ingredients (such as topical retinols, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, AHAs and BHA) which can further irritate this compromised skin so their use should be avoided if Accutane or prescription retinoid products have been used in the last 3 months.

During radiation and chemotherapy, your skin can become more dry, sensitive and red. This can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, increasing the risk of sunburn and sun damage. ZO Skin Health products contain highly active ingredients so should be avoided during radiation and chemotherapy.
Auto-immune diseases (diabetes, lupus, etc)
Certain auto-immune diseases and genetic disorders can increase photosensitivity, accelerate the appearance of sun damage and result in skin cancer.
